Flame Carried on Circuit Round Football Pitch in the Heart of a Selkirk Forest
The countdown to one of Scotlandâs main artistic contributions to the 2012 Cultural Olympiad has begun with the arrival of the Olympic flame at a football pitch created in the heart of a Selkirk forest.
Relay runner Thomas Holligan, 18, (Thomas was a double medallist at Euro youth Olympic Festival, 200m.) made a special departure from the official route to carry a torch round this remarkable sporting arena at 1.45pm on Thursday, 14 June.
Edinburgh-based Craig Coulthardâs Forest Pitch art experience will see four highly unusual soccer teams, mainly made up of new Scots, play two matches on 21 July in celebration of the original amateur spirit of the Modern Olympics.
